Privacy Policy

Bitely is a calorie tracking app. This policy explains what the app collects, what leaves your device, and what we do not do. It applies to the Bitely iOS app and this website.
The short version.
- No accounts, no sign-ups, no passwords.
- Your meals, weight, water and progress photos stay on your device.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not use what you log to target adverts at you.
- When you photograph a meal, that one photo is sent so an AI model can estimate the calories. Nothing else about you is attached.
- We do measure which advert brought you to Bitely. If you decline when iOS asks, that stops.
What stays on your device
The following is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad and is not uploaded to us:
- Your logged meals, calories and macros
- Your weight entries and water intake
- Your progress photos
- Your goals, targets and the details you entered during setup, such as height, age and activity level
- Your streak and app settings
If you delete the app, that data is gone. We have no way to recover it for you, because we never had a copy. There is no user database and no account to sign into. You can also erase everything at any time from Settings, using Delete all data.
Photos of meals
When you photograph a meal, that image is sent to our server so it can be analysed and turned into a calorie and macro estimate. The image is used for that request and is not stored on our servers afterwards. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple ID.
Progress photos are different. They are never uploaded. They stay in a private folder on your device and are only ever shown to you.
Meal ideas
When you ask for meal ideas, the app sends only what is needed to answer: the calories and protein you have left today, which meal it is, whether you are eating at home or out, and the names of what you have already logged today. No identifying information is sent.
Artificial intelligence
Bitely uses third party AI models to estimate nutrition from photos and to generate meal suggestions. These models are provided by Spacexai, Google and OpenAI. Which model handles a given request may change over time as we improve accuracy and cost.
These providers process what is sent only to produce the answer you see. Content sent is limited to what is described above. We do not send your identity, your history, or your photos of yourself to them. When you edit a food name by hand, please do not type your full legal name, address, phone number, or anything else that could identify you. Bitely does not need it to count your calories.
Hosting
This website and the small service that talks to the AI providers run on Cloudflare. Cloudflare may see technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, that any website receives when you connect. This is used to keep the service running and to block abuse.
What we collect
To keep the service running and to stop abuse, our server records:
- A random identifier generated on your device, used only to count requests against a daily limit. It is not your name or your Apple ID, and it cannot be used to identify you.
- Standard technical information that any web request includes, such as an IP address, used for security and rate limiting.
Analytics and attribution
Bitely uses AppsFlyer to understand which adverts help people find the app. If you allow tracking when asked, AppsFlyer receives your device's advertising identifier so the install can be matched to the advert you tapped. If you say no, only anonymous device signals are used. Nothing you enter in the app, your meals, your weight, your progress photos, is ever sent to AppsFlyer.
Purchase events are also sent to RevenueCat, which we use to see subscription and refund numbers in aggregate. RevenueCat sees an anonymous device identifier and the fact that a subscription started or ended. It does not see anything you log in the app, and it does not decide what you can use.
There is no Facebook Pixel, no Google Analytics, and no cross-app tracking beyond attribution. iOS asks for your choice the first time you open Bitely, and you can change it at any time in the Settings app, under Privacy and Security, then Tracking. The app works exactly the same either way.
Payments
Subscriptions are purchased and managed through Apple. Apple processes the payment and we never see your card details. Manage or cancel a subscription in the Settings app on your device, under your Apple Account.
Children
Bitely is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices
- Erase everything from Settings, using Delete all data
- Delete the app, which removes all local data
- Decline camera or photo access, and log meals manually instead
- Decline tracking when iOS asks, or change your answer later in the Settings app under Privacy and Security, then Tracking
- Email us to ask a question about your data

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top of this page.
